పుట్టగానే పిల్లలు నవ్వరెందుకని
వాళ్ళు ఏ వెలుతురులో ఈదివచ్చారు
ఏ ఆనందాలు దాటివచ్చారు
ఏ హద్దుల్లేని దేశాలు ఎగిరివచ్చారు

పుట్టగానే పిల్లలు నవ్వలేరెందుకని
వాళ్ళు ఏ పవిత్రసీమలు విడిచివచ్చారు
ఏ దయాపూర్ణ హస్తాలు విడిచిపెట్టారు
ఏ కపటంలేని కాలాలు పోగొట్టుకొన్నారు

వాళ్ళంతవరకూ
ఏ జరామరణాల అంచుల్ని దాటి బ్రతికారు
ఏ భయరహిత ఏకాంతంలో సంచరించారు
ఒక్క మాటైనా, ఒక్క చూపైనా, ఒక్క మనిషైనా అక్కర్లేని
ఏ మహాశాంతి లోకాన్నుండి ఇక్కడికి జారిపోయారు

పుట్టగానే పిల్లలు ఎప్పుడూ ఏడుస్తారెందుకని
దు:ఖమయ ప్రపంచాన్ని వ్యాఖ్యానిస్తారెందుకని


As soon as they are born

Why do they not smile when they are born,
The new born?
In which flow of glow did they swim and come?
Which treasures of pleasures did they cross?
From which frontierless countries did they come flying?

Why cant the new born smile?
Which parts of purity have they parted and landed ?
Which kind and compassionate hands have they left?
Which guileless times have they lost?

Through which fearless solitude did they travel
From which world of the loftiest peace of no need of a word,a look,a man
Have they descended?

Why do the children always cry when they take their birth?
Why do they so comment on this world of tears and fears?
